One course on systeme.io: check the free-plan limits first

For a creator with one course and an existing audience, a small pilot can help test the selling workflow before adding a monthly platform bill. These notes combine published documentation with a limited administrator-side draft test. Student checkout, paid course delivery, email delivery and migration have not been tested.

Checked 25 October 2026: the official pricing FAQ lists one course, 2,000 contacts, three funnels, unlimited email sends, one automation rule and 500 students for the free plan. A general headline on the same page says unlimited students. Confirm the actual account limit before a large migration. Processor charges are separate from the platform's advertised 0% transaction fee.

What we checked in a free account — 27 October 2026

We created one inactive course, one module and one draft lecture. The workflow was Assets → Courses → Add a new course (name, domain and URL path), then Add module and Add lecture (name, delay and template). The lecture menu offered Activate; we left it inactive. Creating a draft does not mean a student can access it. No learners were enrolled, payments connected or messages sent.

The account’s My plan screen showed Free, $0/month, a one-course limit and a 500-student limit. This supports using 500 as the planning ceiling for this account, rather than relying on the unlimited-students headline. We did not test enforcement by creating hundreds of accounts.

It also displayed a 10,000 USD sales-revenue limit. Article 5a of the official terms describes this as lifetime sales revenue on the free plan, excluding affiliate commissions. At that ceiling, the terms provide a three-day upgrade period before payment pages stop accepting new sales; this free-plan rule does not automatically upgrade or charge the account. It is not a monthly allowance. Check your own current plan and terms before planning a launch.

Before putting a real course online

  1. List the course, learner, contact and automation limits your pilot actually requires.
  2. Use a synthetic learner and sample lesson to check access and delivery. Do not send customer information to a comparison site.
  3. Check country, currency, payment processing and settlement conditions with the actual providers.
  4. If replacing an existing setup, confirm subscription continuity, learner progress, unsubscribe records and export options before cancelling anything.

The free plan may be enough for a pilot. Paid upgrades are only relevant when a required limit or function blocks your tested workflow. Hosting does not produce customers, and this page does not promise sales, better email delivery or effortless migration.
